About PARC
Our PARC provides support and services exclusively to adoptive and guardianship families. We provide support and information; referral to community services; adoption-sensitive, time-limited, case management and crisis intervention; training, support groups, and family events; and a 24-hour telephone access for families in crisis.
We offer trauma-informed, adoption-competent services. Families commonly request assistance when youth are:
-
Struggling with attachment, grief, loss, and separation issues.
-
Navigating adjustment challenges related to or increased by adoption or guardianship.
-
Experiencing emotional or behavioral concerns such as disrespect, aggression, lying, stealing, eating or sleeping disturbances, or concerning sexual behaviors.
-
Displaying impulsivity, a strong need for control, or rapid escalation, with difficulty accepting “no” or managing emotions when overwhelmed.
-
Living with medical, physical, developmental, neurological, neurodevelopmental, psychological/mental health, emotional, behavioral, and/or trauma-related conditions, needs, or disabilities.
Adoption is a lifelong journey. When you need support along the way, we're here for you.
You are not alone.
We understand the unique experiences and needs of adoptive and guardianship families.
Our Approach
Parenting a child with a history of trauma, foster care, and/or adoption can be both deeply rewarding and uniquely challenging, especially because it can require a unique style of parenting. We understand the ups and downs, and we’re here for you through the highs and lows.
Youth who have experienced trauma, loss, foster care, and/or adoption benefit from parenting strategies rooted in safety, connection, and consistency. At times, their trauma can surface in overwhelming ways, but growth and healing are possible. If your child is struggling, we will work with you to locate services and resources to help.
Our non-judgmental team respects your experience and voice and offers practical guidance and support. When challenges arise, you are not alone. We’re here to walk alongside you with respect, compassion, honesty, and hope.
